Professionalism and Professional Standards for Nurses and Midwives
Course Description
Professionalism and Professional Standards for Nurses and Midwives (USA) is a CPD course designed to help nurses and midwives understand, apply, and evidence professionalism in daily practice and in regulatory contexts.
Professionalism is more than technical skill — it is about demonstrating honesty, accountability, respect, and integrity in every interaction. In the U.S., the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics, the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) Code of Ethics, the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), and state licensing boards all identify professionalism as central to licensure and public trust.
This course explores the attributes of professionalism, common lapses, regulator expectations, and strategies for embedding professional standards into identity and resilience. Learners will develop skills to uphold professionalism in patient care, communication, documentation, boundaries, and digital practice.
